This popular camp brings together the fun physical challenges of circus with the endless potential of storytelling to make an action-packed week of Circus Theater. Students explore single point trapeze, aerial silks, tumbling, partner acrobatics, juggling, balancing, creative movement, and more in a creative and collaborative environment.
Throughout the week students are encouraged to add their imaginations to the physical disciplines: tumbling like ninjas, spinning like cyclones, and collaborating with peers and directors to create a unique circus show for family and friends. Our small camp size enables teaching artists to challenge, support, and connect with each camper, creating an unforgettable week of fun.
All-day camps include a trip to the park (weather permitting)

Train your body and mind to easily overcome obstacles in creative and sustainable ways in this action packed summer camp! Develop proper techniques to ensure safety and longevity while fluidly adapting one’s movements to the environment and having a ton of fun! Among others, basic skills taught include Precision Landings, Various Vaulting styles, Rolling, Wall Running, Rail Balancing, Quadrupedal Movements, and looking beyond traditional use of objects. Our Freerunning section adds in Basic Acrobatics and “tricking” such as Rail Flips, Spins, and Handstands yet our focus is always on safety, learning one’s boundaries, self improvement and creativity.
Every session will consist of proper warmups/stretching, physical conditioning/drills, and developing specific skills. Training is tailored to students’ various abilities to help them grow through intense noncompetitive activity, while encouraging positive collaboration, creative movement, and respect for all people and places. On our final day, each student will have the opportunity to video capture their progress to star in their own fun parkour video, edited to music and sent out to parents shortly afterwards. Though we train inside sometimes, Parkour is an outdoor sport and being outside is a key element to this camp. We will be training at Sunnyside Park near the theater for the majority of our time. No previous parkour/acrobatic/gymnastic training necessary. All levels welcome.

From character-development to choreography, music to costumes, trapeze to tumbling, Performance Lab will be as unique as the campers themselves. This int/adv camp will culminate in an original circus theater show created by students!
